ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Business Management Programs

ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Corporations are an essential part of the ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ economy. Learning the history, culture and management of these dynamic organizations is essential to anyone doing business in ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥. This program is for both ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native and non-Native students alike who plan to live and work in ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥.
ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Corporations are an economic force in the State of ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ and we need business professionals educated in the culture and management practices of these organizations.
Over fifty years after the passage of the ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) of 1971, ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Corporations have diversified into successful state, national and global companies. A certificate or minor in ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Business Management prepares students for future work in ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ where you will inevitably encounter an ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Corporation, created by ANCSA, or an ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native non-profit, or tribe, affected by ANCSA.
Students who wish to complete the Occupational Endorsement Certificate (OEC) or the minor in ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Business Management must complete all course requirements with a C grade or better in each class.
Courses for both programs include:
- AKNS A201 ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Perspectives (3 credits)
- BA A202 ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Organizations (3)
- BA A401 ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Corporation Business Management (3 credits)
- BA A402 ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Corporation Leadership (4 credits)
- ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Studies (AKNS) electives (2 or 3 credits)
! Students who opt to take the Minor in ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Business Management need only take two (2) ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Studies elective credits, but must also take BA A151 Business Foundations (3 credits). Again, this is for the students in the minor. Students in the OEC do not need to take BA A151 and must complete three (3) ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Native Studies elective credits. Contact your advisor for details.
