Biography
Jelly Firmin is Koyukon and Gwich’in Athabascan. She is from Tanana and Fort Yukon
ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥. Previously, Jelly worked as a research assistant on projects concerning internalized
oppression in ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Natives and postpartum depression screening practices for providers
in ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ and Hawaii. She earned her bachelor’s in psychology at the University of
ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Anchorage and plans to pursue her PhD in clinical psychology. She desires to
use her education to research suicide prevention methods and treatments for ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥
Native people that combine traditional healing practices and western medicine.
