Earlier this year, the National Society of Professional Engineers named civil engineering alumnus U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Brigham Moore as the 2025 Federal Engineer of the Year for his work in the Indo-Pacific region.

Residents of Southcentral ľֱ have been preparing for the possible eruption of Mt. Spurr over the last few months. Recent UAA alumnus Paul Gabriel is focused on another volcanic public health concern: mercury.

Nearly 150 alumni and supporters packed the Fine Arts Building Recital Hall on the Anchorage campus to honor the most recent Alumni of Distinction while reconnecting with their hometown university and raising funds to benefit UAA programs and scholarships.

Top Forty Under 40 logo

The ľֱ Journal of Commerce released its annual list of the top young professionals in the state. Representing Anchorage, Utqiaġvik, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kodiak and Palmer, the 2025 Top Forty Under 40 recipients exemplify excellence in professional and community service.

Current Notices:

UAA General Support Services (Mailroom, Copy and Print, Surplus, Recycling) will be closed from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28. Mail routes and recycling pick ups will not be affected.

With recent developments regarding a potential Mt. Spurr eruption in ľֱ, it is important  faculty, staff and students are prepared. While an eruption remains uncertain, the State of ľֱ and agency partners believe an event could occur within weeks to months. Read more about Mt. Spurr updates.

Chancellor Parnell is transitioning out of his role and bids farewell to the UAA community. Cheryl Siemers stepped into the interim role after Chancellor Parnell’s retirement. UA President Pat Pitney has also released an update on the chancellor search process.
