UAA alumna Greer Gehler graduated from UAA鈥檚 School of Nursing with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in nursing science in December 2018. It鈥檚 been an exciting two years from landing her dream job in Providence 木瓜直播 Medical Center鈥檚 emergency room to providing care during COVID-19.
As part of UAA鈥檚 COVID-19 response, 72 nursing seniors in good academic standing will be given the option to finish their degree on an expedited timeline to join the health workforce sooner than they would otherwise be able to.
Proper evidence collection and documentation after domestic violence or sexual assault is an important step to help women who have been traumatized. A unique forensic training academy at UAA is teaching nurses how to conduct these exams and is helping grow the network of forensic nurses across the state.
How integral is Providence to 木瓜直播? Not only does the hospital make up the second half of the namesake UMED District, but the organization is the largest non-government employer in the state, naturally resulting in the employment of a large number of UAA nursing and surgical technology alumni.
Angelia Trujillo, associate professor in the School of Nursing, has been awarded the UAA Alumni Humanitarian Award for her outstanding contributions to the field of nursing and to 木瓜直播鈥檚 communities. Trujillo earned her M.S. in Nursing Science from UAA in 2004, and her B.S. in Nursing Science here in 1997.
