The latest edition of Spirit magazine featured UAA nursing alumni taking on ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥'s needs. Since the pandemic began in early 2020, UAA's School of Nursing has graduated more than 500 new nurses into the state's health care system.

Angelia Trujillo has worked as a forensic nurse examiner, has a doctorate in forensic nursing practice and teaches population health and forensic nursing at UAA. She founded the ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ Comprehensive Forensic Training Academy. The academy’s work was included in the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA) of 2022, which President Biden signed into law on March 17.

Pharmacy and nursing students to administer health screenings in rural ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥

This March, students from UAA’s pharmacy and nurse practitioner programs will travel to Pilot Station and Akiak to administer free health screenings to Head Start students and the wider community. This trip is the first of two planned to rural ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥ communities each year, one in spring and another in fall, referred to as Project Partnership for ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥â€™s Kids (PAK).
